According to Romano, Manchester United have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Mason Mount in a deal worth up to £60million. United had a third bid worth £55m rejected last week but have now agreed to pay an initial fee of £55m plus £5m in difficult add-ons. Mount has been given permission to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms, with the clubs set to put the finishing touches to paperwork. United had warned Chelsea that they would not go above their improved £55m offer and were considering alternatives, with the west London club making a counter-proposal of £58m plus £7m in add-ons. But talks between the clubs appear to have finally yielded a positive conclusion for all parties. Real Madrid could be forced to sell key players to raise funds to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe this summer. Los Blancos have been working on a deal to sign Mbappe on a free transfer in 2024 but their plans could change in the coming weeks. Mbappe’s unwillingness to extend his contract in Paris has created friction at the club with a summer exit a growing possibility. The France captain is contracted until 2024 at the Parc des Princes but a clause to extend that to 2025 must be activated by the end of July. If he does not meet the deadline, PSG could sell him, as part of a €200m deal.
